Khurshid to sue Arvind Kejriwal over TV sting allegations

Union law minister Salman Khurshid on Tuesday night said that he will file a court case against Arvind Kejriwal for his allegations against him in connection with a sting aired by a television channel, according to media reports.

The minister, when asked about the activist's allegation in an interview, said the behaviour is worse than that of "gutter snipes" and that he will file both civil and criminal procedures in court.

Earlier, the television channel alleged that the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust, headed by Khurshid and his wife Louise Khurshid, had forged signatures of senior officials in several districts of Uttar Pradesh depriving disabled people of their money.

According to the TV report, the Union ministry for social welfare and empowerment had granted Rs. 71.50 lakh to the trust for distributing tricycles and hearing aids to the disabled in 17 districts of UP.

As per the rules, the trust should have informed the district magistrate, the district social welfare officers prepares and send a list of beneficiaries from districts and the money is disbursed at the camps organized for this purpose, in the presence of district officials.

But reports state that the Trust distributed the equipments under the forged signatures of district welfare officers and the camps were never held.

India Against Corruption (IAC) activist Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday demanded Salman Khurshid's resignation and his wife Louise's immediate arrest after the TV channel's report.

"Yesterday it was exposed by one of the TV channels how law minister Salman Khurshid and his wife are involved in defalcation of funds meant for handicapped people. These funds are released by various departments of Government of India," said Kejriwal on Wednesday .

"They were taken by the NGO, which has been floated by the law minister and his wife. And rather than distributing this money to the handicapped people, the law minister and his wife together have forged the signatures of several government officers which is a very serious crime," he added.

"Mrs Khurshid should be immediately arrested because if she remains outside she would tamper with the evidence and put pressure on various evidences. And the law minister should immediately resign," he said.

Kejriwal also asked Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to ensure that the FIR in connection with this case is registered as soon as possible so that further investigations can be carried out.

भारी वर्षा से उत्तराखंड में तबाही, 6 की मौत

उत्तराखंड में लगातार हो रही मूसलाधार वर्षा के चलते हुए भूस्खलन और बाढ़ के कारण अग्निशमन सेवा के तीन जवानों सहित छह लोगों की मौत हो गयी और मकानों को नुकसान पहुंचा है. वर्षा के कारण चारधाम यात्रा के सैकड़ों तीर्थयात्री फंस गये हैं.

मौसम विभाग द्वारा भारी वर्षा की चेतावनी जारी किये जाने के बाद राज्य में सरकार ने हाई एलर्ट जारी कर दिया गया है. वर्षा के कारण गढ़वाल मंडल के इलाकों को काफी नुकसान पहुंचा है.

आपदा प्रबंधक एवं राहत केन्द्र के सूत्रों ने यहां पर बताया कि शनिवार सुबह चमोली जिले के कर्णप्रयाग में एक मकान के गिर जाने के कारण दो बच्चों की मौत हो गयी. जिले के पोखरी इलाके में एक और बच्चा बाढ़ के पानी में बह गया. वहां पर भूस्खलन के कारण बद्रीनाथ की ओर जाने वाला राजमार्ग बंद है.

ताजा भूस्खलन के कारण बद्रीनाथ जाने वाले तीर्थयात्री पातालगंगा, लाम्बागर और बिराही के विभिन्न स्थानों पर फंसे हुए हैं. उत्तरकाशी जिले में, बाढ़ के कारण कई निचले इलाकों में पानी भर गया है जिससे जिले में तबाही का आलम है.
गंगोत्री इलाके में अग्निशमन सेवा के कम से कम तीन जवानों की मौत हो गयी है जबकि गंगोत्री और यमुनोत्री को जाने वाली चार धाम यात्रा लगातार दूसरे दिन भी स्थगित रही.
उत्तरकाशी के गंगोत्री इलाके में भागीरथी खतरे के निशान से उपर बह रही है और लोगों को सुरक्षित स्थानों पर भेज दिया गया है. बाढ़ के पानी में लगभग 30 मकान बह गये हैं और गंगोत्री पुल भी टूट गया है.
राज्य के आपदा प्रबंधक मंत्री यशपाल आर्या ने बताया कि हमें सूचना मिली है कि गंगोत्री में अग्निशमन सेवा के तीन जवानों की मौत हो गयी है. सूत्रों ने बताया कि केदारनाथ मंदिर की यात्रा भी स्थगित कर दी गयी है.
मुख्यमंत्री विजय बहुगुणा स्थिति की निगरानी कर रहे हैं और संबंधित अधिकारियों को बाढ़ प्रभावित इलाकों में बचाव और राहत कार्य शुरू करने के लिए कहा है. बहुगुणा ने संबंधित अधिकारियों से मंदिर की ओर जाने वाली सड़कों को फिर से यातायात लायक बनाने के लिए कहा है जिससे फंसे हुए यात्री अपने गंतब्य स्थान जा सके.
उन्होंने सचिवालय में विशेष चारधाम इकाई गठित करने के लिए कहा है जो उन्हें गढ़वाल इलाके के स्थिति के बारे में रोजाना रिपोर्ट भेजेगी. उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार असहाय यात्रियों को भोजन और अन्य आवश्यक सामग्री मुहैया कराएगा.

Carbon Nanotube Scale Can Weigh a Single Proton

World's most sensitive scale is accurate to the yoctogram

A group of scientists at the Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology in Barcelona, Spain have succeeded in creating a scale so sensitive that it can measure accurately to the smallest unit of mass – the yoctogram. A yoctogram is one-septillionth of a gram, and a proton weighs about 1.7 yoctograms, meaning the scale is sensitive enough to measure a single proton.

The scale doesn’t work the same way a larger scale might. The abstract for the team’s paper,published yesterday in the journal Nature Nanotechnology, states that the scale uses the carbon nanotubes as a nanomechanical resonator that can detect absorption events of naphthalene molecules and measure the binding energy of a xenon atom on the nanotube surface. They state these sensitive scales could have applications in mass spectrometry, magnetometry, and surface science.

NewScientist is reporting that Adrian Bachtold, one of the authors of the paper, said the team used short nanotubes. Short nanotubes give the best resolution and work at the low temperatures best for measuring frequency. They performed their measurements in a vacuum, and the nanotubes were heated shortly before measuring to disrupt any bonds to atoms.

Though I can’t even imagine how small a yoctogram is, I’m sure something that can measure such small things will be useful, especially for biological applications, in the near future. IPL 2012 Schedule: Match time table with ground details

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 will be played at 12 venues over 54 days in India. Starting from April 4, 2012 to May 27, 2012 there will be 72 matches in the fifth season of IPL. The preliminary schedule has the nine franchises (teams) playing in this fifth edition.

Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra are set to be a part of the Indian Premier League's opening ceremony to be held at YMCA College of Physical Education on April 3. Apart from Bollywood stars, the 'Opening Nite' will also feature performance from a leading international artist, an IPL release stated.

The opening ceremony will begin at 7:30 pm, however, the venue gates will be thrown open to the audience from 5:00 pm.

The event will also feature all nine team captains taking the MCC Spirit of Cricket pledge, which has been on display since the competition's inception in 2008.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) organisers have tweaked the schedule of the fifth edition of the Twenty20 tournament because of the upcoming Municipal Elections in the Capital in mid April.

According to the new schedule, Delhi Daredevils will now lock horns with Deccan Chargers on April 19 instead of April 14 at the Ferozh Shah Kotla stadium.

The Qualifier 1 play-off match will feature the teams that finished the regular season in first and second place, while the eliminator play-offs will feature the sides that finished the regular season in third and fourth place.

As previously announced, the M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host the Qualifier 2 play-off match and the final.

Chennai Super Kings will play Mumbai Indians in the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 on April 4, at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Time table of IPL 2012 - Season 5 with schedule, venue & ground details is given below.
